Chapter 27: The Resurrection

The definition of Resurrection is the returning from the dead or the resumption of life.  Jesus’ resurrection fits the definition perfectly.  The angel in Matthew 28:6 told Mary,  “He is not here, He has risen “.  Jesus arose from the dead and then resumed His life.  Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene, sending the message of His resurrection to the disciples. Next He resumed teaching when He met the two men traveling to Emmaus.  He explained all the prophets to them and all the scriptures concerning Himself.  At one point Jesus even cooked breakfast for the apostles who had been fishing.

Jesus resumed His life after He had experienced the agony of the cross, died, and defeated death.  Jesus’ life did not end when He left this earth and ascended into Heaven. He is still active in our our world today. The last verse in the book of John has always intrigued me. It says “and there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written down every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written”.  I wonder how many universes it would take to contain the books of Jesus life since He rose in the clouds?

Have a great week
